Curious travellers who'd rather understand a place than tick it off — many from the Little Chinese Everywhere community. You don't need to speak Mandarin or have been to China before. Thoughtful, warm people who enjoy a small group, a slow pace, and the mix of extraordinary landscapes and real cultural contact will feel right at home.
On the first departure of each tour — Between Valleys of Living Cultures (10–19 Sep) and Markets, Mountains & Rice Terraces (29 Nov–5 Dec) — Flo travels with the group for the entire tour, and Yan joins the group for a session along the way. Flo will also join later departures, depending on availability.

The pace is gentle — short walks and easy days rather than long treks, so most days suit anyone in normal good health, and we always move at the group's speed. If you have a health condition, tell us when you book and we'll advise honestly.
Often, yes — the hands-on, food-and-culture style is a hit with older children, and a group of up to 12 stays flexible. We look at it case by case: for younger children, or the NW Yunnan loop, a private departure on your own dates is usually the better fit. Tell us who's travelling and we'll point you to the right journey.
Included: boutique accommodation, daily breakfast, most lunches and dinners, private vehicle and driver, your bilingual guide, the experiences and entries in the itinerary, and on-trip support. Not included: international and domestic flights, your visa, travel insurance, and the few meals we deliberately leave free so you can explore on your own. Each tour's page lists its exact meal plan.
Our prices are based on twin share. A single room may be available on request for an additional cost — flag it when you enquire and we'll check availability and the supplement for your dates and journey.
For many travellers, no visa needed. As of 2026, around 50 nationalities — the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, most of Europe, Japan and Korea among them — enter China visa-free for up to 30 days. Our journeys run 6–10 days, so often a valid passport is all it takes. If your nationality still needs a tourist visa, it's straightforward — we'll send the booking confirmation, itinerary and invitation letter to support it. Just confirm what applies to your passport before you book.
Usually, yes — and Yunnan makes it easier than most places. It's one of China's more vegetarian-friendly regions: wild mushrooms, fresh cheeses, tofu every which way, mountain herbs and vegetables everywhere. Tell us when you book and we'll brief the kitchens ahead — vegetarian, vegan and common allergies are generally well handled. Stricter needs like halal or a severe allergy can be harder in some areas — flag them as early as you can, and we'll plan around them where we can and be upfront about anything we can't.
Your lead guide is local and fluent in English and Mandarin, and often speaks regional dialects too. Beyond translating, they're your way in — the reason a family invites you to the table or an artisan shows you how it's done.

We accept bank transfer, WeChat Pay and Alipay. We don't take credit cards at this stage — the long settlement cycle and the risk of card fraud make them impractical for a small operator like us.
Yes — travel insurance is required for all travellers. We recommend a comprehensive policy covering medical care, evacuation and trip cancellation, and suggest arranging it as soon as you book. Here's a travel-insurance plan we recommend.
