Nestled in the Guniangzhai Hani village on Nannuo Mountain, the hotel is surrounded by primary forests and ancient tea plantations. It is a masterpiece of modern wabi-sabi minimalism blended with traditional Hani architectural elements. The hotel is designed to be a "sanctuary in the clouds," offering a high-altitude retreat (approx. 1,500m) where the architecture disappears into the mist and rolling hills.

Inside Jianglu Nanuo

Staying at Jianglu Nanuo
01 How does Jianglu Nanuo differ from resort-style Xishuangbanna stays?
Jianglu is smaller, quieter, and more contemplative — a hillside sanctuary rather than a tropical resort. Anantara Xishuangbanna is Luosuo-riverside and family-polished; Jianglu is 1,500m up Nannuo Mountain, surrounded by primary forest and ancient tea trees, with a wabi-sabi design language. Many guests book both for a week's tropical-Yunnan contrast — 3 nights at Anantara, 2 at Jianglu.
02 What's the tea experience at Jianglu Nanuo?
Nannuo is one of the Six Famous Tea Mountains — the hotel is literally surrounded by 400-to-800-year-old tea trees still harvested by Hani families. Staff-led walks take guests through the ancient tea forests; the in-house tea house runs morning and afternoon ceremonies with tea from the immediate hillside; and during spring harvest (March–May) guests can watch (or join) traditional picking and withering. It's the most immersive tea experience in Xishuangbanna.
03 When is the best time to stay at Jianglu Nanuo?
November to February for cool dry weather and the clearest mountain-valley views from the hillside villas. March to May for the spring tea harvest — the hotel's signature season. Avoid May to early October (monsoon; mountain roads can get slippery and visibility drops). At 1,500m there's no altitude concern, but nights are noticeably cooler than valley-floor Xishuangbanna.
