Hylla Vintage Hotel

A hand-picked boutique retreat

Situated near Baisha Village at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Hylla is a "living museum" on land once owned by the Mu royal family of the Naxi Kingdom. It embraces a "Neo-Naturalism" philosophy by merging traditional Naxi architecture with a premier collection of mid-century modern furniture, creating a sanctuary that is both ancient and avant-garde.

Highlights

  • Hylla Vintage Hotel (物与岚·设计收藏酒店) . Renowned as one of China’s top "destination hotels," it combines high-end vintage furniture with rugged wilderness aesthetics.
  • Museum-Grade Vintage Collection The hotel is famous for its "Design Collection" concept, featuring authentic modernist furniture from the 1930s–1960s (including masterpieces by Finn Juhl and Hans Wegner). Guests don't just look at these pieces—they live among them.
  • Iconic Snow Mountain Views The architecture is designed to frame the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Its "Sky Mirror" terrace and floor-to-ceiling suite windows offer unobstructed, breathtaking views of the southernmost glacier in Eurasia.
  • Traditional Naxi Craftsmanship The buildings utilize locally sourced rammed earth, stacked stone, and timber, echoing the administrative courtyards of the ancient Naxi Kingdom while maintaining a sleek, minimalist interior.
  • Hylla Land & Wilderness Immersion The property spans over 10,000 square meters of "Wilderness Garden," including a glamping site, a library, an organic vegetable garden, and the "Meadows Theater," allowing guests to reconnect with nature without leaving the grounds.
  • LHW Exclusive Standards As the first LHW member in Southwest China, the hotel provides a highly personalized "butler" service and a curated culinary experience at its Yink Restaurant, which focuses on elevated local ingredients.
Common questions

Staying at Hylla Vintage Hotel

01 What's Hylla's 'Neo-Naturalism' philosophy?

Hylla treats the building as a living museum — traditional Yunnan pine-timber Naxi courtyard architecture, furnished with mid-century modern pieces from Eames, Jeanneret, Nakashima and their contemporaries. Each room tells a different curatorial story. It's not a retro gimmick; it's a design-led argument that ancient vernacular and mid-century modernism share the same respect for materials. Stay one night and you understand.

02 Where exactly is Hylla?

Near Baisha Village at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain — 15 minutes from Lijiang Old Town by car, and on land historically owned by the Mu royal family of the Naxi Kingdom. The Baisha mural complex (UNESCO-associated) is 5 minutes away; the Jade Dragon cable car entrance is 25 minutes. Most guests use Hylla as a quieter Lijiang base and drive into Dayan for evening exploration.

03 When is the best time to stay at Hylla?

March to early June for spring weather and clear Jade Dragon views from the courtyards; September to November for autumn colour in Baisha. Winter is quiet and photogenic with snow on Jade Dragon visible most mornings — rooms have heating and fireplaces. Avoid July–August if you're sensitive to crowds in the old town, though Hylla itself stays buffered by its Baisha location.
