Common questions

Planning your Xishuangbanna trip

01 When is the best time to visit Xishuangbanna?

November to February — cool, dry, comfortable for walking, best visibility for rainforest canopy and the Mengla wildlife. This is also when the Dai farming villages are most active. Avoid May to September — heavy monsoon, very high humidity (often 95%+), and limited rainforest access. The famous Dai Water-Splashing Festival in mid-April is an experience but temperatures hit 35°C.

02 How do I get to Xishuangbanna?

Fly to Jinghong Gasa Airport (JHG) — direct flights from Kunming (1h), Shanghai, Beijing, and most Chinese hubs. The airport is 10 minutes from the city centre. Most guests pair Xishuangbanna with Jingmai Mountain — 4-hour drive between them — for a 6–7 day tropical Yunnan loop. We handle the tight-knit logistics for the Mekong cruise and rainforest day hikes.

03 What are the Six Famous Tea Mountains?

Ancient tea-producing slopes that gave birth to Chinese Pu'er tea — Yiwu, Youle, Manzhuan, Mangzhi, Gedeng, and Mansa — still producing from trees over 500 years old. A dedicated tea-focused itinerary can visit 2–3 producers over 2–3 days, with tastings, forest walks, and overnight stays in village homestays. Best paired with UNESCO-listed Jingmai for the cultural heritage lens.
