The Temple House is the Chengdu property in Swire's House Collective — sister to The Opposite House in Beijing and The Middle House in Shanghai. It sits directly next to the 1,000-year-old Daci Temple in the Jinli district, steps from Chunxi Road. The architecture is quiet and brick-led: Make Architects wove a restored Qing-era courtyard into a contemporary residential tower, and the interior design reads as someone's well-curated apartment rather than a hotel lobby. Service is House-standard — quietly excellent, unforced — and you get bicycles, rooftop views, and a proper in-house restaurant. It's the Chengdu address for people who care about design.

Inside The Temple House

Staying at The Temple House
01 Why The Temple House for Chengdu?
If you care about design, this is the Chengdu address. The Temple House is the smallest and most personal of Swire's House Collective trio (alongside The Opposite House in Beijing and The Middle House in Shanghai). Make Architects wove a restored Qing-era courtyard into a quiet brick tower beside the 1,000-year-old Daci Temple. The interiors read like a well-curated private apartment, and service is House-standard: unhurried, unforced, exactly enough.
02 Is The Temple House in a good Chengdu location?
Yes — it's in Jinli, steps from Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li for evening browsing, and a short walk from Daci Temple itself. Chengdu Tianfu Square and the Sichuan Museum are within 10 minutes by car. The hotel keeps a fleet of complimentary bicycles, which is the right way to see this part of the city. From here you're well-placed to start a Sichuan loop into Jiuzhai Valley, Daocheng Yading, or Bipeng Valley.
03 How does Temple House work in a multi-city China itinerary?
Most guests book 2–3 nights at the start or end of a Sichuan trip — long enough for the panda research base, an old-town walk in Wide and Narrow Alleys, a teahouse afternoon, and at least one proper Sichuan-cuisine dinner. Pair with a House Collective stay in Beijing or Shanghai if you're flying between them, or use Temple House as the staging base before our West Sichuan tour.
