Bore Yading (or "Transcendental Wisdom") is a retreat designed for the contemplative traveler. Located deep within the Yading Nature Reserve, it serves as a silent witness to the raw, unyielding beauty of the Sichuan highlands. The architecture is a masterclass in restraint, using raw concrete, local timber, and vast panes of glass to ensure the sacred landscape remains the focal point of the guest experience.

Inside Bore Yading

Staying at Bore Yading
01 How serious is the altitude at Bore Yading?
The lodge sits at around 3,900m inside the Yading nature reserve — meaningfully higher than Daocheng town (3,750m) and very high for most international visitors. We strongly recommend at least 2 nights at lower elevation before arriving (Kangding 2,560m, Daocheng town 3,750m). The lodge maintains oxygen rooms and high-pressure O2 cabins, but arriving directly from sea level to 3,900m risks severe AMS.
02 When is the best time to stay at Bore Yading?
Mid-September to late October for the legendary autumn larch season around the three sacred peaks (Chenrezig, Jambeyang, Chanadorje) — this is the iconic window everyone flies in for. Late April to early June for rhododendron. Winter brings heavy snow and many trails become inaccessible; the lodge remains open but experiences are narrower. Summer (June–August) is rainy with limited views.
03 What does the in-park location mean practically?
You're minutes from the Chonggu Monastery trailhead and the high lakes (Pearl Lake, Five-Colour Lake, Milk Lake) — meaning you start hikes before day-tripper shuttles arrive and finish after they leave. The trade-off is remoteness: no fine-dining scene, limited village life to explore, and everything happens through the lodge. Most guests stay 2–3 nights, then return to Daocheng town or fly out via the 4,411m airport.
