Bolian Jingmai

A hand-picked boutique retreat

Situated within the Bolian Pu'er Tea Manor, the resort is a sanctuary dedicated to China’s tea heritage. It features 30 boutique villas and suites designed in a traditional tea-estate style, seamlessly integrated into a landscape of 1,000-year-old tea trees and misty high-altitude forests.

Highlights

  • UNESCO World Heritage Heartland Jingmai Mountain, which in 2023 became the world's first tea-themed UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Estate-to-Table Tea Culture Guests enjoy exclusive access to the private Bolian Pu'er Tea Manor, where they can participate in traditional harvesting, tea-pressing ceremonies, and curated tastings of rare, aged Pu'er vintages.
  • The "Sea of Clouds" Vantage Perched at a prime altitude, the resort offers private terraces to witness the "Sea of Clouds"—a daily natural phenomenon where the mist settles below the peaks, leaving the resort floating above the valley.
  • Ancient Village Expeditions The property serves as a luxurious gateway to the remarkably preserved Jingmai ethnic minority villages, with guided walks through living heritage sites.
  • Intuitive Butler Service A hallmark of the Bolian brand, each guest is assigned a private "Tea Butler" who curates every aspect of the stay, from in-villa sunrise breakfasts to private guided treks through the ancient tea forests.
Common questions

Staying at Bolian Jingmai

01 What is Jingmai Mountain known for?

Jingmai is the world's oldest cultivated Pu'er tea landscape — the ancient tea forests here were UNESCO World Heritage-listed in 2023, the first cultural landscape in China inscribed for tea. Some trees in the forest are over 1,000 years old, still tended by Bulang and Dai ethnic communities. Bolian Jingmai sits inside a working tea estate; the resort and the surrounding 1,000-year forest are inseparable.

02 When is the best time to visit Bolian Jingmai?

March to early May for the spring tea harvest — when the manor and surrounding villages are alive with picking, withering, and the year's first Pu'er rolling. October to early December for cool, clear days and the autumn flush. Avoid June to August (rainy season — beautiful, but the forest paths get slippery). Jingmai is at 1,400m so altitude isn't a concern, and temperatures stay mild year-round.

03 How do I get to Jingmai Mountain?

The closest airport is Lancang (JMJ), 1.5 hours by road from the resort, with daily flights from Kunming (1h 10) and Xishuangbanna (45 min). Many guests pair Jingmai with Xishuangbanna to the south for a tropical-Yunnan loop. We handle the airport pickup and the road transfer through tea villages, which is part of the experience.
