Songtsam

A hand-picked boutique retreat

Located in the Naxi-ethnic village of Ciman, the lodge is situated just outside the bustling tourist center of Lijiang. It was designed to reflect the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty mixed with traditional Naxi courtyard architecture, providing a more refined and quiet alternative to the hotels within the Old Town.

Highlights

  • Spectacular Peaks Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (5,596m) and the quiet waters of Lashi Lake frame every view from the lodge.
  • UNESCO Heritage Proximity Lijiang Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, while remaining tucked away in a traditional Naxi village where local life continues at its own pace.
  • Han-Tang & Naxi Design The architecture is a "living museum" of regional styles, featuring Han-Tang era grandeur, intricate Hui-style stone carvings, and traditional Naxi-Dongba art.
  • Immersive Cultural Activities The lodge offers unique guest experiences, including Naxi ancient music performances, traditional "Duenxiang" incense making, and private visits to the nearby Puji Temple.
  • Comprehensive Wellness Unlike the smaller lodges, the Lijiang property features an outdoor heated swimming pool, a full-service spa specializing in Tibetan Kum Nye massage, and a 24-hour fitness center.
Common questions

Staying at Songtsam

01 What makes Songtsam Lijiang different from staying inside the old town?

Songtsam sits in Ciman, a working Naxi village 15 minutes from Dayan, with views back toward Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You get the courtyard calm of a heritage lodge, real Naxi neighbours, and proper dark sky at night — without losing access to the old town. Most guests use it as a quiet base and head into Lijiang for evening strolls when the day-tour crowds have gone.

02 When is the best time to stay at Songtsam Lijiang?

March to early June and September to early November — the same peak windows as Lijiang itself. The lodge is at 2,400m so altitude isn't a concern. Winter is quiet and atmospheric: clear views of snow-capped Jade Dragon and very low rates, just bring a layer for evenings.

03 How does Songtsam Lijiang fit into a wider Yunnan trip?

It's the natural anchor between Dali to the south and Shangri-La to the north. A typical loop: 3 nights at Songtsam Lijiang, then drive the Tiger Leaping Gorge road to Songtsam Meili (3,600m) for 2 nights facing the sacred Meili range. See the Yunnan hiking tour for the standard arc.
