01 Where is Yuanshe Azheke and how do I get there?
It is inside Azheke village, in the Aichun area of Yuanyang county in Honghe, southern Yunnan. Most travellers come by road from Kunming, four to five hours, or break the drive at Jianshui. The village sits among the terraces themselves, so the last stretch is a small mountain road rather than a highway — we run it with a private driver who knows the sunrise timings.
02 When are the terraces at their best?
Roughly November to April, when the fields are flooded and mirror the sky — that is when Yuanyang photographs the way people expect. The green months from May are quieter and greener but without the reflections. Cloud seas are most likely in the cool early mornings either side of winter.
03 Who is this stay best for?
